The Pre-Advance Stage usually goes from 14 to 16 years old; however, we use age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. In fact, this stage can start at 14 and go to the 'senior' years of 18-19, depending on each player’s circumstances.

Our Weekly Programs are little extracts of the Annual programs the tennis academy offers, which are based on the ASC Pyramid©.

In this stage players continue working on the tactical aspects of their game, with many repetitions of match situations, starting with drills, continuing with rallies and trying to apply them both in matches.

We start to focus on the physical and mental pillars, given that the players’ growth in the past stages has been significant. Now, the competition reaches a level where the physical and mental development of the players is becoming more consistent.

Benefits of the Sánchez-Casal Weekly Programs

  • ASC 360 Performance System©: You will train under the same method as our annual players, receiving high performance tennis with a special emphasis on physical conditioning. Our system is suitable for all types of players, regardless of age, physical fitness, or tennis experience.
  • Improve Language Skills: The Spring and Fall Holiday Camps include as an add-on language classes, with a choice of English or Spanish classes. Classes take place at ES International School, an American school located inside our facilities, and are given by native teachers.
  • Tournaments: For stays longer than one week, players have the opportunity to participate in local tournaments, as well as national, or even international events that are being held during their stay.
  • Leisure activities: We offer recreational activities inside and outside of the Sánchez-Casal campus, with the objective of integrating students from different countries and making them feel at home.
  • Supervisory staff: Our team of supervisors takes care of the players and are responsible for their safety and welfare at the Academy.

General objectives of the stage

At this stage, players can start competing against oponents of any level. We work on developing the play pattern that will allow the players to compete using their tools effectively.

Emphasis is being placed on the mental side of the game, on how to control emotions, overcome dificulties and deal with adversity during a match.

Specific objectives

Tournaments and travelling team

  • A personalized program is created to include local, regional, national and international tournaments throughout the year (The academy also hosts several international tournaments throughout the year).
  • Assistance from our coaches of the Travelling Team is offered during all these tournaments.

Push Program

Players can boost their tennis level even further with the Push Program.
The Push program includes:

  • Private tennis training: replace 5 hours of group tennis lessons with 5 hours of private lessons. This allows tennis players to work intensively on the technical and tactical sides of the game.
  • Physical training: add 1 extra hour per week (4 players per group)
  • Mental Training: add 1 extra hour per week (4 players per group)

  • ASC 360 Performance System© is world-renowned. Designed by Emilio Sánchez Vicario and Sergio Casal; it includes TECHNICAL, TACTICAL, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL training.
  • Each of these four pillars is developed intensively, and each is tailored to the player’s level of development, which depends on age, physical condition, and tennis ability. The stages are reflected in the ASC Development Pyramid©, and range from initiation to elite.
  • ASC Athlete Body Pillar: an on-court and off-court physical coaching system, with the performance trainers and tennis coaches working together.
  • ASC Athlete Mind Pillar: an on-court and off-court mental coaching system, with the sports psychologists and tennis coaches working together.
